(SV) On the deadline of candidacy for presidency, the National Elections Commission has received nomination applications from Hatim Alsir of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). Orginal- Mohammed Ibrahim Nugud of the Communist Party, and the nominee of the National Democratic Party, as well as Dr. Kamil Idris and Mahmoud Jiha as independent candidates. The Commission also received the nomination of Ahmed Sa'ad Omer of the (DUP) Orginal who contests for the governorship of Khartoum State. The National Reformation Party nominee, Mohammed Alhasan Mohammed Alhasan, has announced his breakaway from his party and withdrawal from the presidential race as well. During the press conferences they held after the handover of nominations, the candidates agreed on the fairness and impartiality of the NEC measures. They also agreed to work collectively for the settlement of Darfur issue and unity of the Sudan unity through delivery of freedoms and justice, control of poverty and unemployment. As such, the NEC at the last day for nomination would have received the credentials of 21 candidates though 10 of them have not fully sorted out their documents.
