Al Bashir Cancels Death Sentences against JEM Convicted over Omdurman Incidents

President of the Republic, Omer Al Bashir announced that an agreement had been reached in N'djamena between the government and JEM under the auspices of Chadian President Idriss debby.
Meanwhile, Al Bashir announced cancellation of all death sentences against JEM rebels who participated in Omdurman aborted sabotage attempt in May 2008 and releasing 30% of them immediately as a goodwill initiative from the government and in boosting the agreement reached.
Darfur issue witnessed significant developments towards the peaceful political settlements before the elections that scheduled next April whereas a final agreement to stop the war in Darfur is expected to be signed this Monday at the Qatari capital, Doha, between the Government and the Justice and Equal Movement (JEM) after three-day of confidential negotiations in eastern Chad between the Presidential Advisor, in Charge of Darfur Dossier Ghazi Salahudeen and the Head of JEM Dr. Khalil Ibrahim, under auspices of the Chadian President Idriss   Deby, during which the two sides were expected to sign initial agreement to halt war in the Chadian capital N'djamena late yesterday while the final signature will be in the Qatari capital, Doha in the presence of the two leaders Omer Al Bashir and Deby and under the sponsorship of Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, paving the way for full blown negotiations between the two sides to end Darfur suffering.
JEM official spokesman Ahmed Hussein said "We will sign a framework agreement with regard the major items that we will tackle during the negotiations, such as wealth and power sharing, security and IDP's" adding " there will be also cease of fire" explaining that the said agreements will be signed within the coming hours in the Chadian capital N'djamena under the auspices of President Deby adding that the Sudanese Government and JEM might meet in the Qatari capital to start the negotiations.


Informed sources revealed that the President of the Republic Omer Al Bashir informed the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, in a telephone call, on reaching an agreement with JEM.
President Al Bashir had announced that the two sides are due to reach an agreement under the auspices of the Chadian President Deby saying. “The people would soon hear some good news about the ongoing negotiations for the realization of peace in Darfur”, indicating that the negotiations currently conducting in Chad “Would represent the end of the fighting in Darfur region and for ever.”
It is to be noted that the Chadian President had paid a historical visit to Khartoum during which the two neighboring countries agreed to end disputes between them and to push the mediation efforts for the success of Doha talks.
On the other hand and in the Qatari capital, Doha, the two groups of Tripoli and Addis Ababa announced their integration a head of the direct talks with the Sudanese government to settle Darfur issue and pledged to work for making Doha talks the last forum to solve the said crisis.
