(SV) The Civil Aviation Authority played down the importance of the European Commission to ban all Sudan based airlines from flying into the member states of EU considering that the said measure does not concern Sudan but EU. The said Authority Spokesman Abdul Hafiz Abdul Rahim described the said decision as nonprofessional affirming Sudan's commitment to the international standards of safety and has reached until now to 80% of the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He said, in a press statement to Sudan Vision that the European Commission used to impose what it called black lists on the said issue and that it has started that since 2006 explaining that the banned airlines have reached 90, most of it from Africa and South East Asia. The Spokesman said that ICAO is responsible for the international standards of safety indicating that the strange thing in the measure that it banned 12 Sudanese companies without identified their names explaining that Sudan is committed to the international decision.
